Resources to Help with Workforce Re-Entry

While working to re-enter the work force nothing occurs in a vacuum.  One decision can affect functioning in a multitude of life domains. 

The following resources can assist in removing barriers to workforce re-entry. 

Barries include, but are not limited to: 

  • Career Counseling 

  • Disabilities 

  • Childcare 

  • Eldercare 

  • Financial Resources 

  • Food Insecurity 

Texas Workforce Commission

Texas Workforce Commission offers individuals a wide variety of support including workshops and classes to help job search, opportunities to build skills, childcare, and resources to help navigate unemployment.  Texas workforce provides services to the residence of Texas.

HHS-Texas Aging and Disabled Service 

Texas Aging and Disability services can help individuals find support to get needs met.  Assistance provided could include support with physical/ mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, and assistance with applying for community resources.  Texas Aging and Disabled Service can aid all residence of Texas.

Texas 2-1-1

Texas 2-1-1 is a webpage that allows individuals to search their community for resources such as food banks, bill pay, employment, legal resources, childcare, etc.  One can click the link below or call 2-1-1.  Every state has access to their own community 2-1-1 service.

"My Friend Ben"

My Friend Ben is a resource that provides support to several states including Texas.  Answering a series of questions can help provide individuals with community resources they might qualify for.  My Friend Ben can help people locate assistance with: Food Insecurity, Financial Assistance, Child Care, and other community resources.

Find Help

"Find Help" allows individuals to search for assistance by zip code country wide.  Possible resources include, financial assistance, childcare, food assistance, and health care options.

Community Action Partners

Community Action Partners (CAP) assist communities' nationwide.  CAP can provide individuals with Financial Assistance, and case management that can help with employment needs and skills training. 

Texas Project First

Texas Project First is an organization that aids parents of special needs children to help find education resources and programs. Establishing this strong community support and clear interventions help reduce family stress and allow parents take on more roles, such as moving into the workforce.

Child Care Scholarship

Child Care Scholarship can provide money for childcare helping qualifying parents re-enter the work force.  Child Care Scholarship is available to all qualifying Texas Residence.

Public Prekindergarten

For Qualifying families Public Prekindergarten can help children between the ages of 3 and 4 access school early.  Creating early education and child care options for parents can help reduce family stress, provide early education and intervention opportunities for children, and help parents address other needed roles.
